14u places 2nd at stage 1 of ASA Challenger Series

Playing in their first 14U tournament the Diamond Sports Hotshots Gold 14U team placed second in the Stage 1 of the ASA Texas Challenge Series. In pool play on Saturday the Hotshots teamed up to score 19 runs and only allowed four runs in four games. The teams’ effort earned them a second seed out of 32 teams in bracket play on Sunday. In the first two games the Hotshots did not allow the TX ThunderStix or Waco Heat to score, beating them 6-0 and 8-0. In the third game against American Freedom-Bouvier the Hotshots won the pitching battle, winning 2-0 and getting seven hits. In the championship game against Impact Gold Mata the team allowed two unearned runs to score on four hits, while the Hotshots only had one run on two hits. The hotshots pitching staff was lights out through bracket play, as they did not give up an earned run all day on Sunday. Great progress was made throughout the tournament but a lot to work on before heading to Dallas in two weeks for the Stage 2 of the ASA Texas Challenge Series.
